The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is the world's largest professionals-only game industry event dedicated to the art and science of making games. It is the primary forum where programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games gather to exchange ideas and shape the future of the industry.
Every year, GDC San Francisco; GDC Europe held in Cologne, Germany, adjacent to GamesCom; GDC Next held in Los Angeles, California; and GDC China held in Shanghai, China, attract large numbers of attendees. In 2013, GDC San Francisco featured more than 600 lectures, panels, tutorials and roundtable discussions covering all aspects of the game business, hosted over 350 sponsors and exhibitors, and had a record attendance of 23,000 people.
In June 2012, GDC launched its first Taipei event, which was organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), UBM, and the Taiwan Game Industry Promotion Alliance. To live up to GDC’s advisory board principles, all the conference sessions were constructed by the advisory board to ensure the quality of the content.
